A person from Tripura who is based in the city was taken into custody by the Mysuru police on Saturday for posting a video after the Pulwama attack, in which nearly 40 CRPF personnel were killed.

The accused is Pramesh Debbarma of Ashrambari in Khowai district of Tripura. He has been working in Mysuru as a cook at a hotel for the past two months.

According to the police, he was produced in court and remanded in judicial custody for the day. The Mysuru police assisted their counterparts from Tripura who were in the city to nab Debbarma.

The Tripura police, who were sounded off about his social media post, discovered that the IP address was from Mysuru. They said the content of the video echoed “anti-India sentiment” and amounted to sedition. Hence, a suo motu case was registered against the accused.

The police said the accused confessed to his crime during preliminary interrogation. The Tripura police will seek a transit remand to take him to Khowai.
