Pulse polio drive: 723 booths to be set up

Plan is to cover 1,72,751 children under the three-day programme

As many as 723 booths will be set up across the district for administering vaccine to children to immunise them against polio during the three-day drive beginning Sunday. In all, 2,892 personnel, along with 144 supervisors, have been roped in for the campaign during which 1,72,751 children would be administered pulse polio drops.

H.P. Manche Gowda, District Health Officer, has said the district has been free from polio for several years. Seeking the cooperation of everyone, especially parents, he said not a single child should be left out during the drive. Meanwhile, a pulse polio awareness rally was taken out in K.R. Pet on Saturday. Flagging off the rally at the Government Higher Primary School, tahsildar H.L. Shivaram said children below the age of five would be administered polio drops across the taluk. School teachers, officials of the Health Department and students participated in the rally.
