MP B.N. Chandrappa has stated that 50 per cent of his local area development fund would be utilised for providing safe drinking water to people of the district by installing drinking water purification units.
Speaking to reporters here on Monday, he stated that during his tour of the district it was noticed that majority of villages in the taluk have high fluoride content in water and people are suffering from health hazards. So it has become inevitable to give top priority to drinking water purification units, he added.
The Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has agreed to provide 50 per cent of the project cost of TumakuruChitradurga-Davangere new railway line along with the land required for the project. The State government has also taken up the issue with the Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu and work on the same would commence shortly.
“The last one year as MP has given complete satisfaction and if UPA government had come to power, there would have been more development works in the district. The BJP government in the country has failed to protect the interests of common man and is framing policies in favour of capitalists”, he alleged.
