Junior doctors, who boycotted work at K.R. Hospital and Cheluvamba Hospital for the last ten days demanding higher stipend, will return to work on Thursday.

General Secretary of Karnataka Association of Resident Doctors (KARD), Anudeep T.C., told The Hindu that 440 junior doctors in Mysuru will resume work in line with a decision taken by the association in Bengaluru after an assurance from Director of Medical Education S.S. Harsoor.

The KARD has decided to suspend agitation till October 2 in response to an appeal by the Government, he said. “If our demands are not met by October 2, junior doctors from Mysuru will participate in a Bengaluru Chalo programme,” he said.

Earlier in the day, protesting junior doctors served tea and biscuits to inpatients and their caretakers for Re. 1 as part of their “Chai Pe Charcha” programme. During the programme, the junior doctors interacted with Snake Shyam, who said it was the government’s responsibility to solve the problems of doctors.
