Former MP G. Madegowda, along with hundreds of residents of Guthalu, on Tuesday staged a protest demonstration on Mandya-Guthalu main road here demanding the State Government to “immediately improve” the condition of the road.

A good number of vehicles on the road were stranded for a while owing to the protest. The officials of the agencies/departments concerned had failed to repair the road, which has witnessed a spate of accidents in recent months, Mr. Madegowda alleged.

The road, which is used by at least 4,000 vehicles daily, has been dotted with innumerable potholes, causing problems for motorists.

The officials visited the protest venue and gave an assurance that the road would be repaired within a month. Later, they withdrew their protest.
