Members of various organisations, under the aegis of Vokkaligara Okkoota, on Monday staged a demonstration in the city to protest against the move to remove D.V. Sadananda Gowda from the Chief Minister’s post.

Members of Samata Sainik Dal, Dalit Sangarsh Samithi, Ganigara Sangha, Vishwa Vokkaligara Brigade and others organisations, who gathered in front of Town Hall, raised slogans against the former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa, accusing him of trying to dislodge Mr. Gowda from the post.

Honorary president of Vokkaligara Okkoota, Talakadu Chikkarange Gowda said they would launch a State-wide agitation if the BJP leadership replaced Mr. Gowda with some one else. Okkoota general secretary C.V. Devaraj said that when the State was reeling under severe drought, 10 ministers, mainly those belonging to a particular community, had put in their papers instead of taking part in drought relief works.
