'Priority will be given to cleaning of tanks'

K.H. Muniyappa, MP, has said priority will be given for cleaning of tanks in Kolar district which are supposed to get treated waste water from Challaghat in Bengaluru.

He was speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the meeting of the district-level Vigilance and Monitoring Committee for centrally-sponsored schemes on the zilla panchayat premises on Saturday.

Trees and other weeds will be cleared from the tanks, Mr. Muniyappa said.

District in-charge Minister U.T. Khader has launched the tank cleaning at Betamangala tank in Bangarpet taluk on Friday.

Zilla panchayat president Rathnamma, Deputy Commissioner K.V. Thrilokchandra, Additional DC S.R. Peddappaiah and Superintendent of Police Ajay Hilori participated in the meeting.
