A prepaid auto centre was inaugurated at Hardinge Circle here on Wednesday by Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Praveen Sood. The centre, sponsored by Inner Wheel Club of Mysore Midtown, is expected to cater to the commuting needs of tourists as well as the city’s local residents.

The fare for the destination will be pre-fixed at the auto centre and the details of the auto and the driver will be entered into the computer before they ferry the passengers.

Inaugurating the centre, Mr. Sood said that autos remain the most preferred mode of transport in Mysuru with taxis yet to gain popularity among the people.

The centre has been very conveniently located at Hardinge Circle, which is close to most tourist places in Mysuru, he said before complimenting Mysuru City Police Commissioner B. Dayananda for having a pre-fixed auto centre at the location.

Taking an auto from the centre will not only give the commuting public a sense of security, but also ensure that the auto driver does not demand excess fare or misbehave with the passengers.

Representatives of Inner Wheel Club of Mysore Midtown, Nandini Murthy, and Renu Agarwal were also present on the occasion.
