Karnataka State Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Prahlad Joshi, MP demanded a probe by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the alleged illegal lottery racket which has brought some IPS officials under the scanner.

The illegal lottery racket includes the names of some IPS officers, right from the level of serving Superintendent of Police to Inspector General of Police and Additional Director General of Police.

He alleged that the racket was widespread in the home constituency of the Home Minister K.J. George.

Talking to press persons on Tuesday, Mr Joshi justified his demand for CBI investigation stating that only an efficient probe would unearth the depth of this illegal lottery gambling and those controlling the racket. The call data records of conversations of some of these senior IPS officers’ with the kingpin of the racket had also come to light.

However, to a question, he said the BJP was collecting more information about the spread of illegal lottery system despite the government’s ban and roles of some of the prominent persons sitting in top echelons of State power.

“If the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has guts, he should immediately recommend for CBI probe; else the BJP would utilise other options to unveil the racket and persons behind it,” he said.

Suresh C. Angadi, MP, Mahantesh Kavatagimath, MLC and office bearers of BJP City and District units were present.
