The Kalyana Karnataka Guttige Safai Karamchari Sanghatane will organise a district-level conference in Kalaburagi on Tuesday to discuss various issues relating to pourakarmikas in city corporations.

District secretary of the samiti, Allamprabhu Nimbarga, told presspersons here on Sunday that the main focus of the conference will be to work out a strategy to force the government to regularise the services of 750 pourakarmikas working on contract in the Kalaburagi City corporation.

Besides regularising the pourakarmikas, the government should increase the monthly honorarium from Rs. 7,700 to Rs. 15,000, Mr. Nimbarga said and added that according to a survey report of the Karnataka State Safai Karamchari Commission, most of the pourakarmikas were paid less than Rs. 6,000 a month. The corporation should also provide social security benefits and housing facilities to all pourakarmikas.
