POS machines not working properly, complain owners of fair price shops

Owners of fair price shops have complained that POS (point of sale) machines supplied to all the fair price shops were not functioning properly and they were forced to stop distributing the foodgrains abruptly many times as the machines went faulty.

The owners’ further alleged that they barely get network and complained that battery back-up of the machine is less than one hour. They mentioned that it had become highly difficult for them to distribute the foodgrains using the machine and they demanded the government to supply food grains in packets which they could handle easily and distribute it to beneficiaries without any hassle.

At a meeting of fair price shop owners, PDOs of GPs, Village accountants and officials of the Food and Civil supplies department held here today, President of the Mysore taluk Fair Price Shop Owners Association, Raju, said that the government had supplied the machines to the fair price shops to ensure accurate weighing, quick weighing of food grains and distribution of food grains to beneficiaries. But the machines were not found to be user-friendly and instead of being handy, had become an impediment for owners’ to distribute the foodgrains.
