‘Police toil every day to maintain law and order’

: R. Vishal, Deputy Commissioner said on Wednesday the district administration could give priority to providing all necessary facilities to the police personnel. He was speaking at the Police Commemoration Day function at the DAR Grounds, here.

Dr. Vishal said the police personnel toiled day and night to maintain law and order.

Even while others celebrated festivals, the police personnel had to look after the security arrangements. It was only when there was peace and order in the society that the administration could implement various development works for the welfare of the society.

He said the police personnel worked in very stressful conditions. Hence, it was essential that they gave importance to their health. The police personnel should not take any rash decisions owing to stress, Dr. Vishal said.

K. Annamalai, Superintendent of Police, read out the names of the police personnel who died on the line of duty in the country including five from Udupi, on the occasion.

Santhosh Kumar, Additional Superintendent of Police, was present.
