The Criminal Investigation Department (CID), which had almost hit a dead end in the case, will now match the photo of the dead person with the CCTV grabs that they have. Besides, the photo will be shown to the family of the slain writer.

Sources said that the CCTV footages from several places in Hubballi-Dharwad, which have been recovered using image enhancement technologies, will be forensically compared with the photo. Sameer Gaikwad, who is at present in the custody of Maharashtra Special Investigation Team in connection with the murder of rationalist Govind Pansare, will also be shown the photo.

Police are also likely to send the bullet casings found at Manakawadi for ballistic test to compare with those recovered from the house of Kalburgi to ascertain if the same weapon was used to kill Kalburgi.
