Police arrest woman wanted in eight cases

The Bantwal Rural police arrested two persons, including a woman wanted in eight criminal cases.

The police identified the accused as Netra alias Netravati, 37, of Shivamogga, and Raje Sahed from Gokak taluk of Belagavi.

The police said Netra was among the accused arrested in a dacoity case registered at Bantwal Rural police station in 2013. Following her release on bail four years ago, Netra failed to appear before the jurisdictional court that issued an arrest warrant. On Saturday, the Bantwal Rural police arrested Netra and Raje Saheb, who acted as a surety, for a house in Belagavi.

The police said Netra was an accused in seven cases of theft registered in Uppinangady, Bantwal, Belthangady, Punjalkatte, Sullia police stations, all in Dakshina Kannada, and in Gangolli Police station of Udupi district.
