PM has time to visit U.S., but not flood-hit areas: Kharge

Congress leader M. Mallikarjun Kharge hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the ‘Howdy, Modi’ event in the U.S. on Sunday, saying that he had no time to visit flood-affected areas and release funds to provide relief to families devastated by the havoc.

The country has been facing problems on various fronts, including floods, slowdown in economy, reduction in GDP, and unemployment. But the Prime Minister has been diverting the attention of the people from real problems by making announcements abroad. He also condemned Mr. Modi for subverting the democracy by marginalising the Opposition’s views on economy.

Instead of conducting an aerial survey in flood-affected districts, the Prime Minister has been delivering speeches in the U.S. and campaigning for U.S. President Donald Trump, the former Union Minister alleged.

Alliance with NCP

Mr. Kharge, who did not participate in the protest in Belagavi, said he was engaged in forming an alliance with the National Congress Party (NCP) in Maharashtra, which is going to polls on October 21.
