Ravikrishna Reddy, president, Forum for Building Bribe-free Karnataka, demanded the State government fill up vacancies in the government and also pay ₹2,000 each to unemployed youths. Speaking to presspersons on Tuesday, Mr. Reddy said more than 3 lakh jobs of the government have remained vacant. Filling up those posts would provide jobs to youths, besides bringing efficiency in the government machinery. “Recruitment of three lakh youths would bring in a change in the life of at least 15 lakh people,” he said.
When the government invited applications to fill up 4,500 posts of clerks two years ago, lakhs of people including those with doctoral degrees applied for the posts. Thousands of youths, with no earnings, find it difficult even to apply for the jobs or appear for entrance tests. “The government should provide a dole of 2,000 so that the youth do not depend on parents to apply for jobs,” he said.
He also appealed to the government to create an environment conducive for private companies to create jobs. “Following technologies like automation and artificial intelligence, crores of jobs are becoming extinct. If this trend continues, our youths will not get jobs. The governments have to adopt a policy helpful for the youths,” he added.
