Mysuru Rangayana will stage Parva, a play based on S.L. Byrappa’s novel, at Hasanamba Kalakshetra in Hassan on April 30. The show begins at 9 a.m. on the day and concludes at 6 p.m. with five breaks in between.

Rangayana director Addanda Cariappa, at a press conference in Hassan on Tuesday, said the play would be staged in Hassan only for a day and tickets would be sold at ₹200 per person. Rangayana had held a meeting with theatre groups and artists of Hassan on the show.

“We have adapted a 600-page novel to the stage. Prakash Belwadi has directed the play and it has received a good response from theatre lovers. And, the production took six months,” he said.

Rangayana had planned to stage the play in major cities of the country. After Mysuru, it was staged in Bengaluru. “Now it has come to Hassan, the native district of Byrappa. We are hopeful of receiving good response,” he said.

M.D. Sudarshan, Assistant Director of Kannada and Culture Department, said Ravindra Kalakshetra, with 900 seats, had been equipped with advanced lights and a sound system. The eight-hour play would have five intervals, including a half-an-hour break for lunch, he added.

Those interested can buy tickets from the official website www.rangayana.org or contact the offices of the Kannada and Culture Department, Kannada Sahitya Parishat and the Information Department in Hassan.
