The flying squad appointed by the Election Commission seized 410 gm of gold ornaments worth over ₹ 7.1 lakh at a house in Arkalgud town on Tuesday evening. It is suspected that the ornaments – earrings – were meant for distribution among voters ahead of the elections. However, it is not clear which candidate had sponsored the earrings.

According to a complaint filed by Peetambara Swamy, Assistant Executive Engineer and member of the flying squad, they conducted search operations in a house belonging to Arun Kumar in the town on Tuesday night and found earrings kept in 45 boxes. Later, the officers assessed the value of the seized valuables at ₹ 7.1 lakh.

The officers filed a complaint against Arun Kumar and two of his friends – A.C. Ramesh and A.R. Balaji.
