‘Number of malnourished children has come down’

October 09, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:52 am IST - Hassan:

“It’s very sweet” said an anganwadi child, when enquired about the milk provided to him under the Ksheerabhagya scheme.

Public Works Department Minister H.C. Mahadevappa smiled heartily on hearing the boy’s reaction. He further asked, who the Chief Minister of Karnataka is and the boy replied, “Siddaramaiah”.

The next question was, who was providing him milk, the boy said, “Anasuya aunty”, leaving the gathering surprised and shocked. The child was referring to the anganwadi worker, who distributes milk at the anganwadi centre, thrice a week. The Minister was expecting the child to reiterate Chief Minister’s name. However, the children urged the Minister to provide milk throughout the week.

The Minister said the number of children suffering from malnutrition had come down with the introduction of the scheme.
