Activists of National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) staged a protest in the city on Monday against the alleged mismanagement of Prof. B. Krishnappa Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Post-Matric Hostel that belongs to Department of Social Welfare at Bapuji Nagar here.

Addressing the protest meet, Balaji H.S., president, NSUI district unit, expressed displeasure that of the 30 rooms in the hostel, repair on 15 was taken up after the commencement of the academic year 2017-’18 creating a problem for students there. The work could have been completed during the summer vacation, he said. He said that the hostel has just two bathrooms and two toilets for 350 students. The protesters raised slogans demanding maintenance of cleanliness at the hostel and the establishing of a library there.

They submitted a memorandum to the office of the CEO of Zilla Panchayat in this regard. Functionaries of NSUI K. Chethan, Vijay, and Dhananjay took part in the protest.
