Not obstructing Cabinet expansion: KPCC chief

Putting an end to speculations, KPCC president G. Parameshwara has categorically asserted that he was not obstructing Cabinet expansion nor putting hurdles in appointment of chairmen to boards/corporations.

“As the KPCC Chief, I am making it clear that I have never put any spoke in the wheel for Cabinet expansion. It is the prerogative of the Chief Minister to decide on the issue by consulting the high command,” he asserted.

He also reiterated that he never demanded for any post in the Cabinet, including that of Deputy Chief Minister.

Asked why the delay in Cabinet expansion or appointments to boards and corporations, he said the expansion was left to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, but appointments to boards and corporations would be made soon.

“The Chief Minister and I will be leaving for Delhi on November 16 with the list of aspirants, and after holding a discussion with party leaders, a final decision would be taken,” he said.

Earlier, Dr. Parameshwara said to bring in structural changes in the party, a proposal was made to appoint some office-bearers in the higher position through internal election. For other posts, the matter was being discussed on whether to appoint them through election or directly select them by giving authority to the high command.

“The matter is being discussed within the party. The decision is left to the All-India Congress Committe. We will follow the direction of the committee,” he said.

He said the party has already launched a membership drive across the country for increasing the number of party workers.
