North Karnataka to get a lion’s share of loan waiver, says CM

Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy on Thursday reeled out statistics to take a dig at those claiming that he is biased towards southern region of the State, by stating that a big chunk of the farm loan waiver will go to the northern region.

Of the total ₹46,753 crore being spent towards farm loan waiver in the State, ₹29,190 crore will be spent on northern region that has 12 districts, he told reporters here. As against this, Old Mysore region that comprises 12 districts will get ₹12,073 crore, he said. Central Karnataka, which comprises three districts, will get ₹3,981 crore, while the coastal region with three districts will receive ₹1,507 crore, he said.
