North Karnataka reels under extreme cold conditions

A majority of places in north Karnataka continued to be gripped by extreme cold wave conditions with the temperatures falling below normal at many places in interior Karnataka consisting of Hyderabad Karnataka and Bombay Karnataka, as per the summary of observations recorded by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) at 8.30 a.m. on Sunday.

As per the summary of observations, Vijayapura recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 7 degree Celsius, which was 10 degree Celsius lower than average minimum temperature recorded during the same period in previous years. Dharwad recorded the lowest temperature of 9 degree Celisus, followed by 10 degree Celsius minimum temperature recorded at Belagavi Airport, Gadag, and Raichur. Koppal recorded a minimum temperature of 11 degree Celsius. The IMD said that the cold wave conditions would continue for the next two days in some places of north Karnataka. Haveri and Belagavi city recorded a minimum temperature of 12 degree Celsius, followed by a minimum temperature of 14 degree Celsius recorded in Kalaburagi and 15 degree Celsius recorded in Bidar. The day temperatures were also low in several places in north Karnataka. Belagavi, Dharwad and Koppal recorded a maximum temperature of 27 degree Celsius followed by 28 degree Celsius recorded in Belagavi Airport and Gadag. Raichur and Vijayapura recorded 29 degree Celsius. Bidar and Haveri recorded a maximum temperature of 30 degree Celsius and Kalaburagi recorded 31 degree Celsius.
