Consumers, who have been facing intermittent power supply for the last few days, have been assured by the Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (Bescom) that there will be no power cuts from now on as glitches in some of the generation stations have been set right.

In a press release on Saturday, Bescom Managing Director Pankaj Kumar Pandey acknowledged that there has been a “reduction in availability of power to the State” in the last three days. This was attributed to “generation outage of nearly 1,100 MW in generating units at UPCL, RTPS, Nagjhari and other central generating stations.”

“They were purely technical glitches. Problems were reported from the Nagjhari unit some 15 to 20 days ago, from the UPCL unit three days back and from the RTPS unit on Friday. Fortunately, they have all been set right,” Mr. Pandey told The Hindu .

The release said the problem was rectified on Saturday after which the 600 MW UPCL Unit-1 is pumping around 570 MW and the 210 MW RTPS Unit-4 is generating around 110 MW. Production at the Bellary Thermal Power Station has increased from around 600 MW to around 900 MW, and the Kudankulam unit is also back on track, pumping 176 MW to the State. “Power availability to the State has increased and there is no unscheduled power cuts in Bangalore city and in the rest of the seven districts.
