After advising tourists to put off their visit to Kodagu, which is the grip of unprecedented floods and landslips, the authorities have directed hotels, resorts, home stays and other private guest houses in the district to cancel all bookings till August 31.

In a directive issued here on Sunday, Deputy Commissioner P. Sreevidya said the district was facing floods and landslips on account of incessant rainfall over the last few days. The roads had become unsafe for travel. Hence the order was issued in the interest of tourists.

The directive comes amid elaborate measures taken up by the authorities to rescue people stranded in isolated and unsafe terrains across the district.

Meanwhile, owners of several lodges, resorts and home stays in Kodagu have voluntarily offered to help the flood affected people by providing them accommodation on their premises.
