The 13th edition of Engineer, the annual technology symposium, will kick-start at National Institute of Technology– Karnataka (NITK) in Surathkal on Thursday. The four-day event will end on October 15.
Started in 2005 as an amalgamation of various technical festivals held at NITK by the different clubs present on campus, it has grown leaps and bounds over the years, attracting a footfall of around 6,000 students from various parts of the country, a release from the NITK said.
The festival’s logo is a Penrose triangle, also known as the impossible tribar, which is a “triangular impossible object”.
Engineer has proudly carried its tagline “Think. Create. Engineer” emboldening budding engineers and even other young minds to do the same, providing them a platform to do so as well, it said.
The festival will play host to a multitude of events from each branch; like Robowars and Bot Hockey from the Mechanical Events Committee where one can watch robots literally hack each other to their end and to Trailblazer and “Symphony-Musical Fountains” from The Tronix Committee.
There will be non-branch related events presented by Astro Events Committee, where one can traverse the cosmos with “Starry Nights” along with other events; Socially Conscious Engineering trying to imbibe a sense of the duty that engineers should have towards the society with events like the Umbrella Walk, it said.
Throughout the festival workshops in different areas like Ethical Hacking, Internet of Things, and Bridge Design will also be conducted, providing students the chance to improve their arsenal of skills, taught by the best in the field.
There will be laser shows and DJ nights.
Deputy Commissioner K G Jagadeesha will be the chief guest in the inaugural event on October 11 on Wednesday.
