Nineteen houses, three shops damaged in rain in Udupi

Rain accompanied by gusty winds damaged 19 houses, three shops and a temple, and destroyed an areca plantation in Udupi district on Tuesday.

According to the information provided by the Udupi Taluk Office, the loss has been estimated at Rs. 2.37 lakh. As many as 19 houses were damaged in the taluk in villages such as Kediyoor, Aroor, Kotathattu, Kote, Athrady and Uppoor.

Temple damaged

A temple was damaged, when an electricity pole fell on it at Ambagilu in Shivally village and the loss had been estimated at Rs. 15,000.

The office of the gram panchayat and three shops were damaged when a tree fell on it at Kuthpady village and the loss to had been estimated at Rs. 50,000.

As per the information provided by the Kundapur Taluk Office, a house belonging to Usha R. Shetty was damaged in Hengavalli village and the loss had been estimated at Rs. 25,000.

An areca plantation belonging to Sitaram Shetty was destroyed in the same village and the loss was estimated at Rs. 10,000. A cattle shed belonging Subamma Shedti was damaged in Kavarady village and the damage due to the loss had been estimated at Rs. 10,000.

According to the information provided by the Karkala Taluk Office, six houses were damaged in rain and winds and the loss had been estimated at Rs. 2.22 lakh.

A house belonging to Benedict was damaged when a tree fell on it in Palli village and the loss was estimated at Rs. 1 lakh, while a house belonging to Tukra Poojary was damaged in Irvathur village and the loss due to the damage had been estimated at Rs. 50,000.

Rainfall

According to the information provided by the District Control Room in the Deputy Commissioner's Office, Udupi received 22.3 mm rain in the last 24 hours ending at 9 a.m. on Tuesday. Kundapur and Karkala received 36.5 mm and 32.5 mm rain, respectively.
