The Higher Education Department has learnt that at least nine sexual harassment cases have been registered in State-run universities.

The complainants include both students as well as staff members. University of Mysore has reported the highest number of three sexual harassment cases. Department officials, however, pointed out that they did not have records of when these cases were reported.

Higher Education Minister G.T. Deve Gowda said that universities that still do not have an Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) to address sexual harassment cases have been directed to set them up immediately.
