New reservation counter commissioned in Mysuru

January 09, 2015 01:28 pm | Updated 01:28 pm IST - MYSURU:

The Railway authorities commissioned a new computerised advanced reservation facility for the benefit of passengers and commuters in the city on Friday.

The new reservation counter is at the N.R. Mohalla Post Office on Shivaji Road and is third such facility operational in the city.

The authorities said all types of advanced reservations, including tatkal booking, can be made at this facility which will be functional from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on all days except Sundays and Government holidays.

However, no concessional tickets will be issued at the new facility except those under the senior citizen category. An additional amount of Rs.15 per ticket in second class, Rs.20 in 3A and Rs.30 in 2A will be levied as ‘service charge’. Rajkumar Lal, Divisional Railway Manager, South Western Railway, Mysore, said decentralisation of ticker booking by spreading out the facilities across the city will help to reach out to the public apart from reducing the rush at the main reservation counter at the main station.
