Additional amenities have been promised for railway passengers during the current financial year, including new retiring rooms, LED train indication boards, food plaza, and so on at various stations in Mysuru division.

At the DRUCC meeting, the crux of the stakeholders’ demand revolved around new stoppages for existing trains and better passenger amenities.

Divisional Railway Manager Rajkumar Lal said some of the works shortlisted for execution during the current financial year in Mysuru division include provision of two retiring rooms at Subramanya Road station, extension of platform shelter at Ranebennur, provision of foot over-bridge at Mandagere, improvement of circulating area at Holenarsipur and Subramanya Road, provision of mobile charger points and additional fans at stations, and provision of LED train indication boards at Mysuru, Davangere and Shivamogga, among others.

He said additional seating arrangements at all A, B and D category stations have been taken up, while provision of low-cost platform shelter and upgrading of approach road at several E category stations are in the offing. The mechanised laundry at Mysuru station for provision of clean and hygienic bed roll linen for AC class passengers is set for functioning as all apparatus and machines are in place, he said.

The Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVM), which were announced more than 5 years ago, are in the final process of acquisition and would be installed at Mysuru, Shivamogga and Davangere stations by August, said Mr. Lal.

A multi-functional catering unit has been approved for the Mysuru station and would be established on PF 6 at the second entry point. Security would be stepped up at Kadur, Tarikere, and Sujathapuram stations, he said.
