Soon after the expansion of his three-week-old Cabinet, Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa held a meeting and directed the newly sworn-in Ministers to embark on a tour of flood-hit areas for two days from Wednesday.

The Cabinet has decided to immediately release ₹10,000 as an emergency fund for each family, who lost their houses in the rain mayhem in north and south Karnataka.

Minister J.C. Madhuswamy told presspersons that the amount would be released to the bank account of families from Tuesday evening. This will help the displaced people make ends meet while they rebuild their lives, he said.

Mr. Madhuswamy said the Cabinet discussed problems faced by people in flood-hit areas. A list of Ministers has been prepared to tour the districts.

Action plan

After completion of the two-day tour, the Ministers would submit reports of their respective districts for chalking out an action plan for rehabilitation of the affected people, he said.
