The Zoo Authority of Karnataka has revised the entry fee of the century-old Mysuru zoo on weekends and public holidays for adults, to meet the zoo’s rising maintenance costs and provide additional facilities to visitors.
The fee for adults has been raised to ₹70 from ₹60. The fee for using battery-operated vehicles inside the zoo campus has been raised to ₹150 for adults on all days. The revision has come after three years.
With the number of visitors increasing every year, 10 RO drinking water units, four childcare centres, 10 battery-operated vehicles for visitors, and seven toilet blocks were built recently. There has been an increase in the number of animals and birds too, thanks to exchanges with other zoos.
Sources said the hike is to meet the rising maintenance expenses.
The new rates are effective from November 1.
