The Department of Archaeology, Museums and Heritage will operate ‘Museum on Wheels’ to mark International Museum Day on Friday.

The concept entails taking visitors to a select few museums for free to imbibe in them curiosity about the cultural heritage of the country. According to a release, the aim is to help the public appreciate the tangible, intangible and natural heritage and to chip in on their conservation. The department has chalked out a circuit covering the important museums in the city — the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya on Irwin Road, the Archaeological Museum and Gallery of the Department of Archaeology located at the exhibition grounds, the Regional Museum of Natural History, Wax Museum, Sand Museum, Folklore Museum at Manasagangotri, R.K. Narayan’s residence, and the Rail Museum.

The tour is open to the first 50 persons — in the age group of 18 to 35 — who register. The last date for registration is Wednesday. For details, call 74115 17651, 0821-24224671, or 2424673, the release said.
