MP charged with neglecting farmers

K.S. Puttannaiah, Melkote MLA, has said that even though farmers in Mandya district are in distress, C.S. Puttaraju, MP, appears to be unaffected by their plight.

Speaking to presspersons here on Monday, Mr. Puttannaiah, a political rival of Mr. Puttaraju in the Melkote Assembly segment, accused the latter of turning a blind eye towards the ongoing crisis in the agricultural sector.

A large number of farmers had committed suicide in the district owing to crop loss and indebtedness. But, Mr. Puttaraju had failed to react to farmers’ woes, he said.

Meeting

Being an MP, Mr. Puttaraju had to raise issues pertaining to farmers and agrarian crisis in Parliament and various other platforms. But, he had failed to do so, Mr. Puttannaiah charged.

“I suggest Mr. Puttaraju to work honestly and address the issues related to the crisis in farming sector,” he said and added that he would convene a meeting of likeminded people to discuss such issues here on October 29.
