Modi ‘sympathises’ with Kharge

May 03, 2018 05:03 pm | Updated 05:03 pm IST - KALABURAGI

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday tried to ‘sympathise’ with the Leader of Congress in Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge for not getting the post of Chief Minister.

Addressing a public meeting in Kalaburagi on Thursday, Mr. Modi said Mr. Kharge is a tall leader from this area. In the past, the Congress had sought votes promising to make Mr. Kharge the Chief Minister. But after the polls, it forgot him. “This is the attitude the Congress has towards Dalits in the country. The Congress speaks about Dalits when not in power. But it comes to power, only some families will be benefited”, Mr. Modi remarked.

Mr. Modi also asked the crowd “Do you how much property Mr. Kharge owns?”, adding “Has this helped the welfare of Dalits?”.
