‘MLAs, Ministers should not interfere in the allotment of tricycles’

January 20, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:39 am IST - CHITRADURGA:

Members of the Chitradurga Taluk Panchayat have opposed interference by MLAs and Ministers in the allotment of tricycles for people with disabilities.

At a general body meeting here on Monday, taluk panchayat president N. Rajkumar said that 3 per cent of the total funds of the panchayat were allocated for providing tricycles for people with disabilities, but they were not being given to actual beneficiaries owing to the interference of Ministers or MLAs. Mr. Rajkumar said the selection of beneficiaries should be made transparent.

The members said that the officials should be instructed to follow their orders while allotting tricycles to the beneficiaries. They alleged that the officials of the Minor Irrigation Department had failed to ensure drilling of new borewells in the fields of eligible farmers under different schemes.
