MLA urges people to benefit from scheme

Tipparaju Hawaldar, MLA, Raichur Rural, has appealed to pregnant women and lactating mothers to ensure they get the benefit of the Matru Poorna Yojane scheme to eliminate malnutrition.

He was speaking after inaugurating the newly announced scheme by the State government in Raichur on Monday.

Anganwadi centres

Mr. Hawaldar said that government aimed to tackle malnutrition among pregnant women and lactating mothers and decided to provide mid-day meals to them. He said that the district has total 2,662 anganwadi centres in which it was decided to provide mid-day meals to 27,092 pregnant women and 26,741 lactating mothers. He also advised officials to ensure that all beneficiaries were being provided the meals properly.

Shivaraj Patil, MLA, Raichur, also present, said that most cases related to malnutrition were identified in Deodurg taluk in the district. Therefore, officials should focus on implementing the scheme effectively in this area.
