MLA to meet AAI officials to discuss airport project in Vijayapura

C.S. Nadagouda, MLA and Government’s New Delhi special representative has said that in order to expedite the work of the long pending airport project in Vijayapura, he would be meeting the officials of Airport Authority of India (AAI) in Delhi on January 19.

Chairing the review meeting of various projects at the Deputy Commissioner’s office here, he said that he would be collecting all required documents of the project including the map of the land being proposed for the project for presenting before the officials.

“I would also be meeting with the Civil Aviation Minster, Ashok Gajapathi Raju for taking up the issue to make sure that the project is initiated as early as possible”, Mr. Nadagouda said.

He informed that even the Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah has met the Union Civil Aviation Minister during his recent visit to Delhi where he extensively discussed about the project.

He made it clear that the State government was ready to offer Rs. 50 crore as sought by the AAI for land levelling charge while another Rs. 50 crore would be spent by the AAI for the purpose.

“The Chief Minister has also asserted that the government would offer required assistance to the Union Government for completing the project in the district”, Mr. Nadagouda said.

He claimed that the AAI has promise to provide other required facilities at the airports in Karnataka including of Hubballi, Mangaluru and Mysuru.

With regard to Navaraspur Utsav, a cultural event which being organised in the district and had not been held for the last four years owing to various reason, Mr. Nadagouda said that the decision has been taken to organise it as ‘calendar event’ every year here.

“Minister for Kannada and Culture, Umashree has shown interest in it, soon the meeting of all elected representatives would be convened to prepare the modalities for holding the event at grand scale”, he said.
