With no leads to pinpoint the identity of the youth whose body was found in the forests of Belagavi district, the CID team, which is camping in the district, is checking missing persons’ records and habitual offender gallery, which lists those who have multiple criminal cases against them.

Inspector-General of Police K.V. Sharath Chandra, who is supervising the investigation, said the identity of the youth was yet to be ascertained.

While the team also visited Hindalga prison in Belagavi, a team of police officials from Maharashtra had arrived to check details about the deceased.
