Minor held for ‘murder’

January 13, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:52 am IST - Udupi:

The police took a 16-year-old boy into custody on the charge of murdering a 10-year-old boy at Kota village in Udupi district on Monday.

According to the district police, Sugosh (10) had gone to play with his neighbour, the 16-year-old boy, at around 4.30 p.m. on January 10. Since he did not return home, his parents lodged a missing complaint with the police. Since people had last seen Sugosh play with the minor, the police went in search of him.

The minor informed the police that he had a quarrel with Sugosh while playing. He then started beating Sugosh. The latter’s head hit a pillar and he died.

The minor then panicked and threw Sugosh’s body into a well near the house. A case was registered under Sections 302 and 201 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the Kota police station, the police said.
