Minister warns hostel wardens

January 29, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:42 am IST - Mysuru:

Revenue Minister and district in-charge V. Srinivas Prasad has warned hostel wardens of action if students were not looked after properly.

He said that students in government-run hostels should be given nutritious food, besides potable water.

Wardens who allow students to consume alcohol and carry out illegal activities within the hostel premises would be dismissed, he said.

Chairing a meeting of hostel wardens here on Wednesday, Mr. Prasad asked the Deputy Commissioner and the CEO of Mysuru Zilla Panchayat to introduce the ‘best warden award’ at the taluk and district-level to recognise and encourage wardens.

The Minister also instructed the officials to implement the five-point programme in all hostels.

This includes appointment of a district-level officer as nodal officer for each hostel, purchasing vegetables from HOPCOMS, installing CCTVs, bio-metric, providing potable water and computer training and skill-oriented training.

There are 221 hostels in Mysuru district.
