Minister inspects facilities at MIMS

June 17, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:43 am IST - Mandya:

Minister of State for Medical Education Sharan Prakash Patil on Tuesday said the State government is committed to improve healthcare facilities at the government-run Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences (MIMS). He visited MIMS and inspected infrastructure facilities.

Speaking to presspersons, Mr. Patil said the government would develop the maternity and children ward with assistance from National Urban Health Mission. He said “suitable steps” would be taken to transfer Director of MIMS Pushpa Sarkar to the Koppal Institute of Medical Sciences.

The Karnataka High Court had recently stayed the transfer of Dr. Sarkar. The MIMS would convene a governing council meeting shortly to take a decision on the transfer, he said.

Meanwhile, members of the Bahujan Samaj Party and Karnataka Janashakti met Mr. Patil and urged him to take steps to dismiss Dr. Sarkar in connection with irregularities at MIMS.
