Minister for Sericulture and Animal Husbandry A. Manju, here on Tuesday, said that the Congress government had introduced many schemes for the public, but lacked in publicising them.
He was speaking at an interaction programme with journalists regarding government schemes, organised by the Karnataka Media Academy, Information Department and the Hassan District Working Journalists’ Association.
The government has launched schemes for all sections of the society. “We have to give attention to publicise them as many people are unaware of our good work. The government has provided basic needs such as road, power, and drinking water for the common man. And our schemes have benefited all sections,” he said.
Funds provided
Regarding Hassan district, Mr. Manju said that the government had provided ₹175 crore for the Mahamastakabhisheka. Besides that, ₹235 crore had been provided for the drinking water project in Arsikere.
Replying to questions raised by journalists, the Minister said that the government would help construction of a Patrika Bhavan in all taluks in the district.
T.R. Chandrashekhar, economist, said the acts of a government should be reviewed with a balanced approach.
“One should review a scheme based on his or her political views. The best way would be to verify how it benefits the common man. Anna Bhagya is an essential scheme in view of the right to life, guaranteed by the Constitution,” he said.
He said the government had been working towards strengthening the weaker sections of the society through its various schemes.
