A doctor leaves Karnataka Minister D.K. Shivakumar’s residence in Bengaluru on August 4, 2017.

There was high drama on Friday morning at the Sadashivanagar residence of Energy Minister D.K. Shivakumar — where he has been held by Income Tax officials for questioning for the past three days — as the Minister complained of ill-health and exhaustion.

The Minister’s family doctor B. Ramana Rao, who rushed to the residence, treated him and advised rest. The Minister’s brother and MP for Bengaluru Rural, D.K. Suresh, also met Mr. Shivakumar. “Though I-T officials first denied me entry into the house, they sought permission from their seniors and let me in eventually,” he said.

“His blood pressure had shot up. My brother said he was questioned till over 2 a.m. for two days and hence deprived of sleep,” he said.
