Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) conducted public meetings and processions in Kolar to mark ‘International Worker’s Day’ on Friday.

While a public meeting was held at Brindavan Circle in Kolar, the CITU functionaries conducted a vehicle rally from Vasan Circle to Robertsonpet in Kolar Gold Fields.

Addressing the gathering at Kolar, CITU district unit president Gandhinagar Narayanaswamy said labour laws are being diluted in order to benefit corporate sectors. Contract and outsourcing system in job sector is pushing the working class towards insecurity and a united struggle is necessary to reverse such policies, he said.

Honnenahalli Yallappa presided over the meeting.

Dalit Sangharsha Samithi district convener Harohalli Ravi, District Advocates Association secretary S. Sathish, KPRS leader N.N. Sriram, Rural Bank Employees Federation leader H.B. Krishnappa, Anganawadi Workers’ Federation leader Munirajamma were present among others.

CITU district Vice-President G. Arjunan, Tangaraj and others led the vehicle rally.
