As many as 500 people, who are practicing yoga, will hold a demonstration at Mahatma Gandhi Stadium in Raichur between 7 a.m. and 7.35 a.m. in the open ground here on Sunday. Deputy Commissioner S. Sasikanth Senthil told presspersons on Friday that they would later march to Pundit Siddarama Jambaladinni auditorium where a public function would be held.

The district administration would organise the event in association with civil society organisations and institutions including Patanjali Yoga Samithi, Swamy Vivekananda Holistic Helalth Care Centre and Art of Living, he added.

“Prizes for best yoga performers will be distributed. An expert will deliver a lecture on the positive role that regular practice of yoga plays in keeping physical and mental health well. There is no instructions from the government to celebrate the Yoga Day at taluk headquarters. However, there is no bar for taluk administrations to celebrate it taking considering the local conditions including the financial one,” Mr. Senthil added.
