Giving a push to traffic enforcement, the city police have procured 12 breath analysers and 100 wheel clamps that will help in checking drunken driving and haphazard parking.

These are among the new things that the city police had procured, said Police Commissioner Sandeep Patil in a press release. “We will act tough against those driving vehicles in an inebriated state,” Mr. Patil said.

Among the new things that the city police have got are 20 solar blinkers, which are being placed at prominent traffic junctions, 300 reflector jackets for traffic policemen, 18 upgraded closed-circuit television sets that will used for traffic regulation and maintenance of law and order, and 30 multi-functional devices that are used to book traffic offenders.

A private agency has been entrusted with the task of applying thermoplastic road paint on zebra crossings and road humps at prominent junctions. The agency will be doing this work for 2,045 sq.m., Mr. Patil said in the release.
