The city police have arrested Karthik, a railway contractor from Chikkamagaluru, for allegedly murdering his ex-wife Sunitha in Mysuru last week.

Karthik is accused of killing Sunitha at her house in J.P. Nagar in Mysuru last Tuesday. He was arrested by the Vidyaranyapuram police from Tarikere taluk of Chikkamagaluru.

The police also arrested Karthik’s associate Seena with him.

According to the police, Karthik and Sunitha had got married eight years ago and had a seven-year-old son. However, the couple split recently and Sunitha and her son were staying with her father and brother in J.P. Nagar.

Last Tuesday, Karthik came to Mysuru from Chikkamagaluru and went to Sunitha’s house after her father and brother had left for work. They dropped their son at school together and returned home.

But, according to neighbours, a quarrel ensued and Sunitha was heard screaming. Later in the day, Sunitha’s brother came home when his calls to her mobile phone went unanswered. He found Sunitha lying in a pool of blood with her throat slit. Karthik was nowhere to be found.
