May 11, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:54 am IST - Chikkamagaluru:

The Chikkamagaluru police have arrested a person on the charge of murdering an eighteen- year-old girl, who went missing on Saturday. Salman (22), resident of Kalludoddi Extension in Chikkamagaluru, has been arrested in this connection, the police have said.

Meanwhile, Basheer Ahmed, also resident of Kalludoddi Extension, file a complaint with the Chikkamagaluru Rural police. In the complaint, Mr. Ahmed has stated that his daughter, Ayesha Mariyam (18) did not return home on Saturday, after she left the house to visit a post office.

Later, some unidentified person called Mr. Ahmed over phone in the evening and informed him that his daughter had been admitted to the government hospital at Chikkamagaluru.

However, by the time the vehicle reached the hospital, the girl had passed away.

Mr. Ahmed has suspected the role of Salman in her death. He told the police that Salman and his daughter were in love, despite opposition from the family members.

Her parents fixed her marriage with another boy recently. Mr. Ahmed has alleged that Salman must have lured his daughter to go to Bababudangiri Hills on Saturday and forced her to consume poison. The Chikkamagaluru police have registered the complaint and arrested the accused.
