Terming a man who raped a three-year-old minor girl as an “inhuman and cruel” person, the Kalaburagi District and Sessions Court, on Tuesday, sentenced him to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹ 50,000 on him.

The accused, Saibanna R. Aari, a resident of Ratkal village in Chincholi taluk in the district, had, according to the prosecution, lured the three-year-old girl while she was playing outside her house on the pretext of giving her chocolates and raped her.

The incident took place on November 24, 2015.

The case was registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (PoCSO) Act 2012 at the Sulepeth Police Station.

Public Prosecutor L.V. Chatnalkar argued on behalf of the prosecution.
